14 type of 10 rupee coin issued by government, all valid: Reserve Bank

New Delhi, Jan 18 (KNN) In an attempt to clear confusion among the different stakeholders with regard to the 10 rupee Cong, the Reserve Bank in a press release reiterated that all the 14 types of coins issued by the bank stand valid.

"It is clarified that the Reserve Bank puts into circulation, the coins minted by mints, which are under the Government of India. These coins have distinctive features to reflect various themes of economic, social and cultural values and are introduced from time to time," the apex bank said in a statement.

Stating its stance, Reserve Bank said that since the coins have longer life, coins of different designs and shapes happen to continue to remain in the market at the same time.

At present, the central bank has issued Rs. 10 coins in 14 designs and all these coins are legal tender and can be accepted for transactions.

The clarification by the bank comes amidst reports surfacing that the traders and businesses are hesitant in accepting coins as legal tender suspecting the validity and originality of the coin. (KNN/DA)
