November Data say exports rise by 30 per cent, mix opinion in the industry over road ahead

New Delhi, Dec 16 (KNN) The exports from the country registered a whopping 30.55 per cent rise amounting to 26.19; however there is speculation among the industry including the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) if the figures are reflective of the good signs for the overall economy and the road ahead.

The Data from Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Friday informed that exports during November this year exhibited high positive growth of 30.55 per cent in dollar terms Vis-à-vis November of 2016.

This is on the pattern of positive growth in exports in last thirteen months with a dip of 1.12 per cent in October 2017 vis-à-vis same period last year, the Ministry said in a release.

Talking to KNN, Animesh Saxena, MSME Garment Merchandise exporter said that the overall rise in exports is due to the fact that these are the months when there is a surge in demand for goods from India.

Saxena further said that countries including Europe and USA seek merchandise from India for their spring as well as summer season, therefore sectors experience a fair demand.  Whether or not the figures are indicative of smoothening sign for the economy is still a question to be looked upon.

Commenting over the performance of the textile sector, he said that the sector specific data is yet to come from the government and the previous data had been very depressing for the sector.

Responding to the new data, Exporters body FEIO in a press interview said that the rise in exports can be seen in light of the overall global demand rising to an extent.

The data from the Ministry informed that major contributing sectors including engineering, petroleum products, gems and jewellery, chemicals and pharma registered good numbers. (KNN/DA)
