PHD Chamber to hold Open House Discussion on NPAs and Wilful Defaults

New Delhi, Mar 19 (KNN) In a bid to explore the various dimensions of Non-Performing Assets (NPAs) as a prudential indicator of the health of the banking system, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry is to hold an Open House discussion.

The discussion themed “NPAs and Wilful Defaults”, will take place on Tuesday, 20th March 2018, 4:00 pm at PHD Chamber in New Delhi.

A high level of NPAs indicates a high incidence of credit defaults which consequently affects the profitability and net-worth of banks. Further, wilful defaults are one of the major causes of increase in NPAs, the chamber said.

During the post financial crisis, it has been observed that willful defaults have been rising in parallel to rising NPAs and have become a major cause of concern for Indian banks, therefore it is important to explore the aspect, the chamber added.

The open house session is being organised by the chamber’s research arm in collaboration with Banking and Financial Services Committee.

The discussion is to provide a platform to deliberate on issues, concerns and suggesting measures to combat rising NPAs and wilful defaults in the country.

Interested participants may respond to the chamber via email to Ms. Surbhi Sharma, Sr. Research Officer, PHD Chamber at research@phdcci.in or sunitag@phdcci.in or Fax at 011—26855450. (KNN/DA)
