‘Cooperative Federalism’ should be the new mantra for the MSMEs: Kalraj Mishra

New Delhi, Apr 28 (KNN) The schemes rolled out by the state governments and the central government for the MSMEs remain under-utilized by the entrepreneurs. Citing a state-centre gap in this regard as the main cause, Kalraj Mishra, Union MSME Minister called for a structure based on "Cooperative Federalism”.

“There should be better coordination between the State and the Center to help accelerate the MSME industry” said the Minister.

The Minister was addressing the participants at the meeting of Ministers and Secretaries of MSME, Khadi and Coir from all states and Union Territories.

Emphasizing the significant contribution the MSMEs have made in the growth of the country, he commented that the total contribution of MSMEs including both manufacturing and service sector amounts up to 37 per cent.

Reiterating the need for the Indian MSMEs to evolve on global standards, the Minister appealed the attending officials to strictly adapt PM’s ‘Zero Defect Zero Effect’ proposal regarding the Indian manufacturing industry.

Talking about the schemes that are available for the sector he said that there are already a lot of schemes for the MSMEs. However he did raise concern over the lack of awareness of the schemes. He asked the attending officials to ensure that the concerned offices in the state facilitate schemes to the MSMEs who are in need of it.

Outlining the purpose of the meeting, Mishra said that it is essential to take stock of the condition of the sector from time to time.

He also addressed the Khadi officials to work along the PM’s vision of “Khadi for Nation and Khadi for Fashion” to make the Indian spurn fabric visible I the international market.
