Govt. open to considering more items made by MSMEs under low tax slab: Arun Kumar Panda

New Delhi, Feb 21 (KNN) Ahead of the upcoming meeting of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council early March, MSME Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Panda hinted that the government is open to consider more items made by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) for the lower tax slab.

Panda made the comment during an interactive session at the “Rebooting CGTMSE” event in the national capital.

Earlier in the day, addressing the MSMEs and Bank officials at the event, Panda said that a prime problem raised by MSMEs across sectors have been the problem of easy credit on time at lower interest rates.

Highlighting the step of the government in the direction, panda said that the revamped structure of the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) is going to prove instrumental towards tacking that concern.

“Credit flow to the MSMEs is absolutely important, especially at a time when the MSMEs are moving from an informal setup to a formal setup under the new taxation”, Panda said. (KNN/DA)
