India looking towards transforming itself into a Global Manufacturing hub with Zero Defect Zero Effect: PM Modi

New Delhi, Feb 17 (KNN) Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his inaugural address at the World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS 2018) reiterated that government is working towards transforming India into a Global Manufacturing hub considering the fact that India is a young nation.

"To give employment to our youth,we have decided to make India a global manufacturing hub", PM Modi said in his speech.

He further said that the country is also focusing on achieving this in a cleaner and greener method.

"We have launched the Make in India campaign for this.However, at the same time, we are insisting on Zero defect and zero effect manufacturing", PM Modi added.

Citing a report PM Modi informed that the National Geographic's Greendex Report of 2014 which assesses the environmental sustainability of consumer choice, ranked India at the top for its greenest consumption pattern.

The Prime Minister also batted that the government is moving ahead with the motto of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas, ensuring that the benefits are able to reach the people across sectors.

"Our mission of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas is an extension of this philosophy. Through this philosophy, we are ensuring that some of our most deprived areas experience social and economic progresson par with others", he said.

The World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS), TERI's flagship event, has been conceptualized as a single platform to accelerate action towards sustainable development and especially climate change.

The WSDS series seeks to bring together the finest minds and leading thinkers of the world to focus attention on the challenge of sustainable development and has emerged as a landmark event addressing issues pertinent to the future of humanity. (With PIB Inputs) (KNN/DA)
