No extension of deadline for filing GSTR-3B returns: Govt

New Delhi, Sept 16 (KNN) Contrary to the expectations of the taxpayers over the government extending the deadline for filing the GSTR-3B return, the Group of Ministers officiating for GSTN, led by Deputy CM of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi, notified that there would not be any last minute extension of the deadline.

The panel also requested the dealers to not to wait for the last moment to file the returns as last minute traffic in the past have had cause the GST server to crash, resulting in problems to the taxpayers.

The Group of Minister assigned to look into the glitches of the Goods and Services Tax Network GSTN, met for the first time today ever since the roll out of the GST in July. The Prime focus of the meeting was to dissect the issues based by businesses in filing an operating the GSTN.

The group of ministers informed that of the 85 lakh dealers who have registered on the GSTN, only 3.3 lakh taxpayers have filed their GSTR-3B for the month of August so far.

The group of ministers further assured that the government is well aware of the concerns pertaining to the GSTN and it being the biggest such system in the world, things are likely to be better with a dedicated team in place. (KNN/ DA)
