B’lore based MSME AlphaMERS presents innovative maritime security solutions at Commonwealth SME Summit

Bengaluru, June 5 (KNN) A Bangalore based MSME AlphaMERS presented its indigenous innovative solutions for maritime security during the two day Commonwealth SME Trade Summit on 30th-31st of May 2017 in New Delhi.

The two day India-Commonwealth SME Trade Summit provided a platform to MSMEs from Commonwealth countries to exchange ideas on Technology and Innovation.

On the day two of the Summit, there was a special session on Technology and Innovation in which experts and entrepreneurs from Commonwealth Countries presented their innovative ideas and shared their success stories.

AphaMERS presented a solution, a floating physical barrier which would act as a fence designed to stop boat intrusion into the waterfront perimeter boundary of their facility.

DC Sekhar, Executive Director of the company said there has been serious interest from the security forces, ports and dam reservoirs. AlphaMERS has further developed an underwater net barrier to prevent human intrusion below the barrier.

According to him, currently available solutions are mostly detection and alarm systems and not physical barriers. The company has also developed a floating security gate to allow controlled access to bona fide boats.

The company has earlier developed floating trash barrier for river cleanup and to collect floating weed and trash for retrieval. Deployed in rivers, this is a very low cost solution for river clean up using the natural flow of water to optimize energy requirements.

The company is currently working on a wave powered boat as an unmanned and hybrid long range boat.

Sekhar said technology leadership is a very important USP in the new world and MSMEs are very well structured to deliver innovation.

Sekhar informed that AlphaMERS has developed these technologies from its own internal accruals and has made profit in the last five years in a row.

He wished the public procurement process was more accommodative of indigenous innovations and suggested establishing guidelines to evaluate IPR values of innovations for banks to accept them as collateral. (KNN/ DCS)
