Role of MSMEs in the development of Indian Economy has been globally recognized: Kalraj Mishra

New Delhi, June 27 (KNN) Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Kalraj Mishra today said it is because of the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that after marking June 21 as International Yoga Day, United Nations has now declared June 27 as International MSME Day recognizing the importance of the sector.

The role of MSMEs in the development of Indian Economy has been globally recognized by all.

Mishra was addressing at an event organized by his Ministry to celebrate the UN MSME Day. On this occasion, the Ministry felicitated the successful MSME entrepreneurs with National MSME Awards, launched Digital MSME Scheme and exchanged MoUs with Sap India, Intel and HMT.

Mishra expressed happiness that now not only in India but also by UN, the SME sector is called as MSME sector.

He said the Ministry has decided to start MSME awards at state levels and cluster levels as well. For women entrepreneurs, there would be dedicated awards to boost entrepreneurship spirit, he said.

Mishra later launched the Digital MSME Scheme for promotion of Information & Communication Technology in MSME Sector with a total budget of Rs. 85.705 Crore including Government of India’s contribution of Rs. 58.105 crore during 2017- 18 to 2019-20. (KNN Bureau)
