UIDAI to make available Aadhaar enrollment facility in over 13,000 post offices soon

New Delhi, Mar 15 (KNN) The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), responsible for the Aadhaar process recently announced extending the Aadhar enrollment facility in over 13,000 post offices.

So far, over 6,500 post offices across the country have already started providing Aadhaar enrolment and update service, this number will increase to 13,000 post offices soon.

Postal Department and UIDAI earlier agreed to make available these services through select post offices.

The setting up of Aadhar centres at post offices comes post finance ministry allocating over 200 crores as assistance for establishing the centres at 13,466 post offices in the country.

The government has also urged the Postal Department to engage with local MLAs upon opening a new Aadhar centre so that the locals can be made aware of the new facility at post offices. (With Inputs from a media report) (KNN/DA)
