New Delhi, July 11 (KNN) The European Union and Government of India, Department of Commerce under its project “Capacity Building Initiative for Trade Development in India – CITD” is conducting a  training programme for stakeholders on the requirements of the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and to facilitate increased exports of machinery to Europe.

The training can be undertaken by officials from the Government, Regulators, Industry and Industry Bodies, Accreditation and Certification / Inspection Bodies, and other key stakeholders.

The Training Programmes on the “EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC” are being organized in New Delhi on 19–21 July 2017 and in Bengaluru on 25-26 July 2017.

These trainings will be conducted by an EU Expert on Machinery Safety, Koen Chielens.

The objective of the program is to provide basic information on the safety rules that are to be applied by manufacturers before putting machinery in the EU market. These rules also cover the putting into service of machinery for the first time and in this sense it can also apply to end-users.

After the training the attendees will have a good knowledge on the mechanisms of the European directive for machinery and how to implement them.

Furthermore attendees will have the opportunity to meet and ask questions to an expert who carries out CE Marking and risk assessment on a daily basis, since many years.

Quality Council of India (QCI) and its constituent Board – National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB), being one of the beneficiaries under this project, is facilitating and coordinating these trainings.

The Capacity Building Initiative for Trade Development in India – CITD has an objective of supporting India in strengthening its capacity to achieve economic growth and sustainable development, through further integration into the global trading system, by increasing the safety and quality of products, and by reducing cost and impediments to trade.

In this EU-CITD Project, one of the component relates to “Strengthening the technical regulations and standardization framework in line with applicable international standards and practices”, under which various capacity building initiatives have been envisaged.

One of the activities envisaged under this project is to train the officials from the Government, Regulators, Industry and Industry Bodies, Accreditation and Certification / Inspection Bodies, and other key stakeholders on the requirements of the EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and to facilitate increased exports of machinery to Europe.

This training will also be useful for the officials from the Government and Regulators as well as the Industry and Industry Associations in understanding the need to establish a similar regulation on the machinery safety in India.

The training will benefit accreditation as well as certification / inspection bodies to understand the mechanisms for verifying compliance against this EU Directive on the Machinery Safety. (KNN Bureau)
