SAP India to strengthen its base, aims to tap SME clients

New Delhi, Aug 10 (KNN) Europe based Technology giant SAP is planning to further strengthen its base in India by training over 15 lakh SAP consultants. The training will help the consultants serve more comprehensively to the Indian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Under the training program outlined for the next three years, SAP will upskill its consultants in the country and train them to connect with the SMEs.

At present the company has over 8,600 clients that are from the Small and medium Enterprises Sector accounting for 80 per cent of the total client base of SAP in India

Scott Russell, President of SAP for Asia Pacific and Japan in a press interview said that his company aims to target over 51 million SMEs in the country that are yet to go digital.

He further said that majority of the Small and Medium businesses are not very tech savvy and lack knowledge pertaining to computer, internet and networking.

Also with the implementation of the Goods and Services tax (GST) in the country, the SMEs will be compelled to go digital as many of the procedures under GST are to be done online. This will further create the need for firms like SAP to help assist the SMEs in the country. (KNN/ DA)
