West Bengal has enough potential for investment in MSME sector: Mamata Banerjee appeals Dutch investors

Kolkata, June 22 (KNN) Highlighting that the state has enough potential for investment in MSME sector, agriculture and horticulture,  Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has appealed the investors at The Hague, Netherlands, to ‘come to Bengal, ride the growth’. She was speaking at the ‘Opportunities in Bengal’ forum.

In her speech, the Chief Minister said, “We have enough potential for investment in MSME sector, agriculture, horticulture. We have a land bank, a land map and a transparent land-use policy. We have accountability and transparency.”

Giving a comparative figure from FY 2015-16, she said in FY 2015-16, Bengal’s GVA growth was 12.02% while that of India was 7.3%; In FY 2015-16, Bengal’s growth in agriculture sector was 5.55% while that of India was 1.1%; In FY 2015-16, India’s industrial growth was 7.3% and that of Bengal was 10.59%; and In FY 2015-16, growth in service sector in India was 9.2% and that of Bengal was 13.99%.

The CM also said: “Bengal has enough scope and opportunities. The talent in Bengal is the best in the world. We will provide all infrastructure and support possible. Bengal is the gateway of north-eastern States, Bangladesh, Bhutan as well as Nepal. The second largest Financial Hub in India is in Bengal.”

She concluded saying she hoped to meet those present at today’s meet at the next Bengal Global Business Summit.

Banerjee on Monday left for the Netherlands where she was to address the Public Service Day of United Nations today at Hague. She is the first Chief Minister of India to address on the occasion.
