Maharashtra tops the list, UP follows in terms of MSME registrations: Study

New Delhi, Dec 11 (KNN) Exploring the growth trends of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the different states of the country, a study conducted by The Associated Chambers of Commerce of India (ASSOCHAM) reveals that Maharashtra secured the first rank in terms of MSME registrations followed by Uttar Pradesh.

ASSOCHAM revealed the findings in a study titled ‘Manufacturing Excellence and Emergence in India: The State-level Analysis’.

Citing statistics, the report informed that Maharashtra registered highest growth rate of over 129 per cent in terms of registration of micro, small and medium enterprises under entrepreneur memorandum (EM) part-II, which grew from 16,136 in 2013 to 36,992 in 2015.

Uttar Pradesh was placed at the second rank with over 69 per cent growth as the number of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises registrations.

Also Uttar Pradesh hit the third highest share of over 12 per cent in terms of EM-II filed by MSMEs across India. Tamil Nadu and Gujarat topped the list.

The ASSOCHAM study takes into consideration different factors including Economic Research number of factories, output value, working capital, net fixed capital formation and fixed capital.

Also sample of parameters such as finished goods, capital invested, total inputs and others to ascertain the states’ performance in terms of manufacturing sector are also taken into consideration for the rankings. (KNN/DA)
