The picture is positive for Nagpur, the region represented by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union minister Nitin Gadkari.

From 26,714 MSME units involved in manufacturing and services, employing 2.55 lakh people in 2014, the situation in Nagpur improved to 1.4 lakh MSME units generating employment for 2.93 lakh people, according to the ESR released by state finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar in Mumbai on Thursday.

Deepak Karandikar, vice-president, Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries & Agriculture (MCCIA) and former chairman of MCCAI’s sub-committee on MSMEs, attributed the reduction in employment to a slowdown in the industry.

He said due to the slowdown in the industry, MSME impacted badly which depend on the expansion of bigger industries.

He further attributed this loss to the difficulties that SMEs face while adapting technological developments as compared to bigger companies.

Entrepreneurship is very challenging in India where the integrity of the Law maker and the executive is at deplorable levels. Any law has varieties of interpretations which suits them to accumulate taxes as well as speed money. The govt. wants to implement "Make in India", "Ease of doing business" in India. but in reality, they put all hurdles at every level (such as giving every license, permissions etc..)demanding huge amount of speed money to ensure that the entrepreneurs are at their mercy. The MSME Entrepreneur has to struggle to get finance, paying speed money to getting licenses, finding quality manpower, skill development, managing rising wages, rising debtors list, etc.. The need of the hour is discipline, accountability, appraisal and target bound action plan for all from the Ministry, executive to industry.
