Commerce Minister likely to hold discussions with MSME Ministry-Industry over growth tensions

New Delhi, Sept 23 (KNN) In the aftermath of a slowed growth rate post demonetization and the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), the Commerce Ministry is in the process of holding talks with different stakeholders including industry players and Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

According to a press report, the Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu will be holding discussions pertaining to industrial growth in an attempt to resolve them.

Industry bodies including FICCI, CII, ASSOCHAM and government departments including Department of Pharmaceuticals, Department of Textiles, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) along with officials from Ministry of Finance are likely to be a part of the call.

Earlier, the statistics from Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as well as Index of Industrial production (IIP) registered a not very appealing trend and experts view demonetization as well as the Goods and Services tax, two reasons along with many for the slowed growth. (KNN/DA)
