Defence Ministry considering to relax procurement norms for MSMEs: Sitharaman

New Delhi , Jan 18 (KNN) To facilitate the entry of Indian companies the Defence ministry on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Nirmala Sitharaman proposed relaxation the procurement norms for  Indian companies, start-ups to supply goods to the armed forces.

In Defence Acquisition Council meeting Nirmala Sitharaman introduced some new rules that allow the industry (MSME) to propose projects especially items that Defence industry imports.

The Defence industry has modified the current “Make Procedure” in Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP)-2016 that will enlarge the scope of industry.

With the approval of this proposal, service headquarter will issues an expression of interest, inviting companies to make samples within 12-30 weeks. Entry of players is not restricted under the norms as many no of industry players can enter the market to offer samples.

Following this, a commercial request for proposal will be issued which will not be drawn back once it is issued and the industry who wins the bid will get the order between 69-103 weeks from the day of issuing request for proposal. (KNN/YV)
