Bureau of Energy Efficiency to organize National Summit to promote energy efficiency in MSMEs

New Delhi, Oct 17 (KNN) Eyeing at exploring the energy efficient framework with reference to the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the country, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) will be conducting a National Summit to promote Energy Efficiency in MSME sector.

The two-day summit is scheduled for 31October and 1 November in the national capital. Officials from various government and non-government departments as well as representatives from various MSME bodies including the Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME), is to be a part of the event.

The main objective of the summit is to fine tune the  strategies adopted to promote energy efficiency among MSMEs such as training and capacity building, energy audits and implementation support, technology demonstration, concessional financing.

It also aims to generate awareness about ongoing initiatives and programs by government to encourage companies adopt energy efficient technology.

MSME sector being the backbone of manufacturing in India that employs over 80 million people continue to be dependent  on obsolete, low efficiency technologies which reduces profitability and competitiveness.

Energy efficient methods will reduce the CO2 emissions and improve product quality and increase profitability.

The event is a part of BEE's larger project   “National Program on Energy Efficiency and Technology Up gradation in SMEs” in line with the earlier Programs to accelerate energy efficient interventions in the SME sector.

The two day event will witness many deliberations on strategies to support and adopt energy efficient ways among firms.

Also the revamped SAMEEEKSA (Small and Medium Enterprises: Energy Efficiency Knowledge Sharing) web-site, Energy Management Centre and a mobile application for MSMEs will be launched in the summit.

The event is being co-organized by Ministry of Power, Ministry of MSME, Embassy of Switzerland, TERI and UNIDO. (KNN/AG)
