Giriraj Singh gives out Swachhata Awards to MSMEs, urges adoption of effluent treatment plants

New Delhi, Dec 16 (KNN) On the completion of Swachhata Pakhwada that was organised from the 1st to 15th December, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Giriraj Singh distributed Swachhata Awards to the participating offices and MSMEs.

Entities that were facilitated during the event included representatives from industrial clusters, industry associations and MSME offices for their contribution to Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.

Addressing the gathering at the event, MSME Minister Giriraj Singh said that it is important for the MSMEs to work towards setting up of effluent treatment plants and adopting waste management techniques.

“This is one such initiative to create a healthy competition amongst industrial clusters and estates and offices for Swachhata,” the Minister said.

Singh informed that under the flagship Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan started by the Prime Minister, the Ministry of MSME and its subordinate Offices are actively engaged in organising cleanliness drives both at the office level as well as in the industrial clusters, industrial estates.

Officials from the Ministry including Dr.Arun Kumar Panda, Secretary(MSME), Parameswaran Iyer, Secretary (DWS) and Akshay Kumar Rout, Director General, Swachh Bharat Mission along with other dignitaries and senior officials from the Ministry were present during the ceremony.

Swachhta Pakhwada is a part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan campaign of the present government also known as  Swachh Bharat Mission or Clean India Mission in English) under which the government aims to address the different issues around cleanliness at different levels.  It also aims at the larger sustainable development and pollution reduction goals.
