Handholding MSMEs can help prevent high profile scams: MoS Jitendra Singh
New Delhi, Feb 20 (KNN) In a bid to make a special case for the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said that it is important to help the sector in order to move away from big scams.
“One of the biggest buffers to prevent such high-profile scams happening from time to time is to promote MSMEs,” Singh said.
The Minister made the remarks during the inauguration program of an ASSOCHAM conference on the MSME sector.
Singh said that his office is committed towards encouraging industry in the Northeast as well as in Jammu and Kashmir.
State Commerce Minister Chander Prakash Ganga urged the Centre to treat Jammu and Kashmir on a par with northeastern states and extend the benefits and exemptions on similar lines.
Ganga informed that a framework similar to the one for Northeast would help develop the industrial sector in Jammu and Kashmir. (With inputs from a news report) (KNN/DA)
