MSME Min has approved setting of 15 tech centres; Rohtak & Baddi finalized for the project: SN Tripathi

Chandigarh, Nov 21 (KNN) The ministry of micro, small and medium enterprises (MoMSME) has approved setting up of 15 technology centres and Rohtak & Baddi have been finalised for the project for which the World Bank is providing Rs.2,200 crore, said Additional Secretary, MoMSME, Surendra Nath Tripathi.

The state governments concerned will provide the land, he added.

He was speaking at the 45th Conference of Federation of Corrugated Box Manufacturers of India being organized by HP Corrugated Box Manufacturers Association (HPCBMA) here on Saturday.

He said the technology centres would strengthen the support system to MSME units.

Tripathi said automation is expected to grow in packaging sector and the Ministry wants the industry to meet the global standards.

“For this, we have recently launched a new scheme on October 18 this year, where will select and reward MSME units that are able to live up to the Zero Effect Zero Defect (ZED) and Rs 491 crore has been earmarked for this scheme,” said Tripathi.

Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh Industries Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said that ‘Invest Himachal Summit’, will be held in February next year.

Appealing the investors to participate at the Summit, he said as Himachal contributes to fulfil 35 per cent of Asia’s pharma that requires corrugated boxes; the state government will extend full support in setting up of corrugated unit.

He assured that the state is not only making clearance to all formalities within a month time, for investing in state, but also a relief to industries in electricity rate concession. (KNN Bureau)
