Pertinent to upgrade manufacturing and production practices in MSMEs: CICU

New Delhi, Feb 10 (KNN) Voicing the need of upgradation among the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings raised the need to adopt newer manufacturing and production practices in the MSME sector.

Upkar Singh Ahuja, President of Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) said that the MSMEs are important pillar to the overall economy and it is pertinent to upgrade the industry in terms of manufacturing and production techniques.

The Chamber also held a two-day training program in this regard. The program themed manufacturing excellence through Statistical Process Control (SPC) was held at the CICU Complex in Ludhiana.

During the program, the participating MSMEs were introduced to the newer techniques available in India and abroad.

Ahuja during the event highlighted the importance of moving towards excellence in manufacturing.

Considering the fact that the global competition is becoming fierce day by day, it is important for the MSMEs to adopt methods that could help them produce in a more efficient manner with unmatchable quality, he added.

During the program, the participants were also given practical knowledge of using statistical methods in analysing the production to pave the path towards manufacturing excellence by applying the SPC tools.

The MSMEs were also educated on applying various problem solving tools, control charts and statistical application for controlling and improving the processes. (KNN/DA)
