Prabhu bats for district-state level strategy to strengthen exports, MSMEs say much needed

New Delhi, Jan 9 (KNN) Chairing the 3rd Meeting of the Council of Trade Development and Promotion in the national capital, Commerce and Industry minister expressed the need to go by district and state level strategies to strengthen exports, responding to which the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) engaged in the sector said that such approach is much needed.

Prabhu emphasized on the need to come up with an ecosystem that can promote exports in the country.

Spelling the possible roadmap, Prabhu said that there is a need to develop state and district level strategies.

“Districts should be the new units of growth and planning should be done around this”, the Minister said.

Talking to KNN, Ajay Sahai, Director General & CEO of Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO) said that the ministers comment to go by a micro level approach is very much what the country’s economy needs to follow at present.

“The government and stakeholders can work together to figure out best practices and solve concerns at the district level and the state level, another layer of framework can be the macro level, combining both the country’s economy can prosper”, Sahai said.

Sahai further said that the economic indicators such as GDP constitutes different elements including manufacturing and services and these stem from district level, a dedicated approach taking into account the needs and demands therein can help yield better figures. (KNN/DA)
