Preliminary groundwork for the SC/ST Hub almost complete: DICCI

New Delhi, Apr 7 (KNN) The Government of India launched the SC/ST hub last year in October, aiming at capacity building of SC/ST entrepreneurs. Milind Kamble, Chairman DICCI, who is also the chairperson of the Advisory Committee for the SC/ST hub applauded the work in the line so far.

Talking to KNN, Kamble said “The Scheme was launched merely five months ago, yet the work that was required at the initial stage has been done in the right direction, we have outlined various strategies that are essential for the hub, this includes setting up of MSME databank, formulating vendor development programs as well as mentoring MSMEs”

He further expressed optimism towards the project as he expects significant outcomes in this new financial year.

GST being an important component that is expected to come into effect from July 2017, Milind appealed that all the SMEs must register as earliest as possible.

“We welcome the GST- One nation One tax policy of the Government. Most of the SMEs who fall under the tax bracket by now have already registered for it” he added.

For a close watch on the progress of the program as well as for further laying out the roadmap,  the High power committee and the Advisory Committee meet regularly.

“We are meeting again on 12th of April, the prime focus of the meeting would be to formulate ways to leverage Stand-up India, besides the other two primary objective being enhancing procurement and capacity building among the SC/ST entrepreneurs” stated DICCI Chief. (KNN/ DA)
