Quality to be the way forward for plantation industries: Giriraj Singh

New Delhi, Sept 14 (KNN) The plantation sector industry comprising of a fair share of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) needs to start focussing on the quality aspect in their production processes, MSME Minister Giriraj Singh said recently.

Singh asserted that the plantation MSMEs in the country has got huge potential which needs to be explored at length.

The MSME Minister said that the sector must aim to conquer the global market now, for which it is important to meet the global quality standards.

Recognizing the contribution of the sector, Singh appealed to the industry to come up with newer projects and avenues, which would lead not only towards generation of products in better capacitates but also open up numerous job opportunities for the unemployed youth in the country.

He informed that the demand of products from the sector has always been high, therefore there is scope for newer units to be set up in the regions that have appropriate support for the industry.

Emphasizing the need of organic farming, the MSME Minister said that the sector must focus on sustainable means of production and bring a cap on the chemical and fertilizers dependent production. Also water conservations need to be taken into consideration, he added.
