KVIC writes to UP Police for once-a-week khadi uniform for cops

New Delhi, July 29 (KNN) In a bid to accelerate the consumption and spread of khadi in the country, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have requested the Uttar Pradesh police to adapt uniform made of khadi.

Vinai Kumar Saxena, Chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) in a letter to the Uttar Pradesh police has sent a proposal of mandating one day a week khadi uniform for the policemen in the state.

Responding to the proposal, ADG law and order, Anand Kumar in a press interview said that the proposal is under consideration.

He informed that the proposal is forwarded to all the Zonal IGs and the decision would be taken collectively based on the response from the Zonal police officers.

The request to Uttar Pradesh police comes after a similar proposal that was sent to the Maharashtra government, following which KVIC said that the acceptance of proposal in Maharashtra has led to a substantial boost in the Khadi sector. (KNN/ DA)
