Labour Ministry organizing region-wise stakeholder meet to finalize draft of labor code on social security and welfare

New Delhi, July 14 (KNN) To carry out final discussion on the formulation of draft of the labor code on social security and welfare, Ministry of Labor and Employment is organizing the 1st region-wise “Stakeholder Consultations” meeting.

The meeting will be held under the Chairmanship of Secretary (L&E) with the representatives of Central Trade Unions, Employers Organizations and Labor Department and Other relevant Departments of the concerned State Government (i.e. of North Region - NCT of Delhi, J&K, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chandigarh).

The meeting is scheduled to take place on July 18, 2018 at 2 pm in Mirza Ghalib Chamber, Scope Complex, Lodhi road in national capital.

The ministry has decided to carry out some Region Wise “Stakeholders Consultations” so that the Draft Code may be thoroughly deliberated upon by the stakeholders for its finalization with consensus at an early date.

In this connection, the Ministry of Labor and Employment has invited representatives from all the central trade unions and employers association for deliberations on the code on Social Security & Welfare.

Earlier in this regard, a revised draft has already been prepared after considering the comments of various stakeholders which is available on the ministry website.

Ministry of Labor & Employment has decided to formulate the Labor Code on Social Security, 2018 by amalgamating, simplifying and rationalizing all existing labor laws related to Social Security which includes EPF Act, ESI Act, Maternity Benefit Act, Payment of Gratuity Act, Employees Compensation Act, Unorganized Social Security Act, and various Welfare Cess /Fund Acts.
