Maharashtra CM urges government officials to ‘Go Khadi’ once a week

New Delhi, Nov 17 (KNN) In an attempt to facilitate sales of the Khadi Fabric in the country, the Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis urged the officials of his government in state to wear khadi at least once a week in order to endorse the product and encourage others to follow.

The Chief Minister further said that the endorsement comes in line with the Prime Minister endorsing the fabric, following which the sector witnessed a rise in the overall sales.

Fadnavis further said that the government officials and the leaders wearing khadi would result in setting a trend for others to follow.

The Chief Minister made the following remarks during the inaugural event of the state’s first khadi outlet at the Handmade Paper Institute campus in the Shivajinagar region.

Also earlier this week, the Khadi and Village Commission (JVIC) in a high level delegation meeting batted for setting up khadi products aisles across retail showrooms and malls including Big Bazar, pantaloons etc.

Earlier different apparel brands including Raymond and Peter England sough collaboration with the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) under which the brand will be launching its exclusive range of ‘Khadi’ in the country. (KNN/ DA)
