20-day long Baluchari, Kantha and Silk Mela underway in Kolkata
Kolkata, July 25 (KNN) Promoting the silk and handloom products from West Bengal, a 20-day long mela has been organized by the state government.
The mela called as ‘Baluchari, Kantha and Silk Mela’ started on July 18 at Salt Lake Sector-III. It would continue till August 6. The fair is open every day from 2 PM to 8.30 PM.
The fair is being organised by the State Department of Commerce and Industries.
The mela is seeing participation of craftspeople and handloom workers from across the state.
Among the various products being sold at the fair are Baluchari and tussar sarees, hand-painted silk sarees, embroidered kanthas, sarees made of silk and cotton, batik print kurtis, t-shirts for children with popular characters from Bengali comics like Gopal Bhand and Handa-Bhonda painted on them, bed sheets, bags, meenakari-on-bronze jewellery and wall hangings.
