6th Int’l Tourism mart kicks off in Guwahati, 66 international delegates on board

New Delhi, Dec 7 (KNN) In an attempt to strengthen the economy along tourism, the 6th International Tourism Mart recently kicked off in Guwahati.

The three day event is being organized with an aim to focus the government’s Act East policy. Also the event is expected to provide fresh impetus to the country’s ties with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and other regions of East Asia.

Commenting on the significance of the event, Indian Tourism Assistant Director for the region, Sanjay Kumar in a press interview said that this year’s edition of the expo is being carried out to showcase the potential of East India to the world in terms of tourism.

Also with the event in place, International delegations visiting the mart are likely to explore possible collaborations with the country to strengthen the tourism sector.

Delegates from rom different regions of the country and the world will visit the event and engage in one-to-one meetings with sellers. This will enable the tourism product suppliers from the region to reach out to international and domestic buyers, with the objective of promoting tourism to the region, Kumar added.

Citing numbers, Kumar informed that over 66 international delegates from over 29 countries are taking part in the event.

The three-day is also to feature presentations by state governments on their tourism potential, cultural evenings, sightseeing visits to local attractions in and around. (KNN/AG)
