DGAD initiates investigation on Glassware from China and Indonesia as industry complains dumping

New Delhi, May 11 (KNN) Glass manufacturing company Shreno Ltd has filed an application recently before the Directorate General of Anti-Dumping (DGAD) requesting investigation against dumping of glassware exports from China and Indonesia.

The DGAD has taken cognizance of the issue and has launched probe into the matter to see if the allegations are true. If found so, the DGAD will impose the Anti-Dumping duty against the exporters in order to protect the domestic manufacturers.

The products that are listed under the complaint include Soda-lime glassware that is used for household as well as offices and other decoration manufacturing products. The list excludes Borosilicate Glassware and Opal Glassware.  The term glassware applies to any article or object made of glass. Depending upon the composition of glass and other properties the glassware is classified as Borosilicate Glassware Opal Glassware and Soda-lime glassware.

Shreno Ltd that has filed this petition is a Soda-lime glassware producer. He has also said that there are lot of Small and Medium units producing this commodity, continuous dumping is harming the entire market and the sector at large. (KNN/ DA)
