DGFT removes port restriction for import of apples

New Delhi, Mar 28 (KNN) The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has removed port restriction for import of apples.

DGFT in a notification said, “Port restriction for import of apples covered under EXIM Code 08081000 is hereby removed.”

Earlier import was allowed though both sea ports and airports in Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai & Cochin; and land port and airport in Delhi.

Import of apples were also allowed through India’s land borders.

The restrictions were introduced by the government as a form of non-tariff barrier aimed at protecting Indian producers after receiving pressure from domestic transporters. (KNN Bureau)
