E-Way Bill: Carriers that started before rollout facing problems due to lack of clarity: AIMTC

New Delhi, Apr 2 (KNN) With the government implementing the national e-way bill from April 1, the carriers that have started before the roll-out and are still in transit are facing problems since there is no clarity both with the transporters as well as the tax office, All India Motor Transport Congress informed.

Talking to KNN, S K Mittal, President of All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) said that the first day of the roll out happened to be a Sunday. Despite it being a weekend the server did show signs of slowdown creating some level of anxiety among transporters who are trying to adapt to the new mechanism.

He further informed that there is a lack of clarity with regard to the loads that are already on road before the implementation of the bill, whether or not are they allowed to enter and pass through states.

“We have been getting calls from our trucks that are stalled and not being allowed to enter states since they don’t have the required bill, but the concern is that they started off before April 1, there is lack of clarity”, he said.

With regard to the roll put so far, Mittal said that today being the second day, it will take some time for the association to assess the new mechanism.

Earlier the government in a press release informed about smooth rollout of the new system.

E Way Bill is an electronically generated document required to be generated for the movement of goods of value more than Rs 50,000 between states under the new GST tax regime. (KNN/DA)
