New Delhi, Apr 16 (KNN) Upset with the Direct Selling Companies for selling health supplements and food items produced by the direct selling entities on e-commerce websites without prior written contest, FSSAI has issues a notification regarding Violation of Direct Selling Guidelines, 2016.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), in a letter to the Chief Executive Officers of Flipkart, Amazon. Snaldeal and Shopclues,  has said, “any person who sell or offers for sale, including on e-commerce platforms/ marketplace, any product or service of a Direct Selling Entity must have prior written consent from the respective Direct Selling Entity in order to undertake or solicit such sale or offer.”

Direct Selling Guidelines, 2016, was issued by the Department of Consumer Affairs.

The matter came to limelight after Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA) brought to the notice of FSSAI the sale of health supplements and food items produced by the direct selling entities being sold on e-commerce platforms without prior written consent.

The food-watch has said that in the interest of maintaining the food safety chain, the e-commerce entities have to have the prior written consent. (KNN Bureau)
