Karnataka Urban Co-Operative Banking Summit to be held in Belgaum on Nov 19-20

Bengaluru, Oct 21 (KNN) The Karnataka Urban Co-Operative Banking Summit, 2016 is being held in Belgaum on November 19-20, 2016. The Summit being organised by the Karnataka State Cooperative Urban Banks Federation Ltd will be inaugurated by Karnataka Chief Minister S Siddaramaiah.

"Karnataka Urban Co-operative Banking Summit 2016" would discuss the challenges of cooperative banks.

As many as 266 Co-operative Banks, 21 DCCB Banks and more than 1400 delegates will participate in the exhibition to be held during the summit. More than 75 exhibition stalls will be set up at the exhibition.

Apart from channelizing the idle saving of the society to fruitful economic ventured, Karnataka Co-operative Banks help in development of small and medium scale enterprise in urban areas by providing substantial credit facilities to this segment.

“Despite the fact that the business and asset base of cooperative banks have grown over the years, these institutions have been facing numerous challenges in maintaining their development and sustainability,” said the organizers.

“First of all the market competition and the need to retain good clientele are affecting cooperative banks. Secondly, their size and relative lack of financial depth constraints adoption of high end technology which is the key ingredient of the new era banking sector,” the organizers added.

The Summit will provide an interactive experience producing valuable and actionable outcomes.

Ramesh Chandappa Jigajinagi, MoS Ministry of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Drinking and Sanitation, Government of India; H.S. Mahadeva Prasad, Minister of Cooperation, Government of Karnataka; H K Patil, Minister of Rural Development & Panchyati Raj Government of Karnataka; Ramesh Jarkiholi, District Minister, Belgaum, Government of Karnataka along with other Senior Government and Bank Officials will attend the event.
