New Delhi, Sept 16 (KNN) In an attempt to look into the different concerns of the workforce in the industry, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Labour & Employment called upon representatives from different trade unions.

The meeting was aimed towards discussing provisions in the draft Industrial Relations Code. Representatives from 10 Central Trade Unions including BMS, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF and NFITU (Dhanbad) attended the discussion.

This was the first interaction meeting of Shri Gangwar with the Trade Union representatives, after taking over the charge of Ministry of Labour & Employment.

Discussion between the Minister and trade unions took place at Shram Shakti Bhavan in New Delhi on 14th September.

Earlier the labour ministry announced its plan to condense nearly 44 labour laws into four codes—wages, industrial relations, social security and safety, health and working conditions. Responding to which different trade unions registered protest on certain amendments in these codes

The new industrial relations code proposes to raise the ceiling on number of workers for units that can go for closure, retrenchment or layoff without government approval to 300 from 100. (With PIB Inputs)
