Ministry to ensure timely payment by PSUs to MSMEs: Haribhai to KNN

New Delhi, Apr 27 (KNN)The delay in payments by the PSUs has been a major problem the MSMEs have been facing. There are several cases in which the procurement done by the PSUs failed to honour timely payment to the MSME vendors.

Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary, MoS for MSMEs spoke to KNN and expressed his concern over the matter. He said that in cases where there is a delay of payment the Ministry organizes meeting with the finance ministry and concerned officials and pressurize them to duly pay on time.

“We are trying to ensure that such cases can be avoided,” said the Minister.

Commenting upon the GST and its implementation, the Minister said that the task for now is to educate and inform the MSMEs about the taxation policy. The Ministry is holding seminars and webinars for the same.

He declined to comment over the demand of some sectors to extend the dates for the implementation of GST; however he said that whenever it is implemented, it is going to hugely benefit the enterprises.

Outlining the efforts done by his Ministry, he said that the online portal and the mobile application, both work along the Government’s vision of Digital India. It further increases the scope of transparency and credibility.

On the question of how is the MyMSME app going to help the units avail loans, the Minister informed that the MyMSME app will connect the banks and the NBFCs to the entrepreneurs.

The Minister was also questioned on the low success rate of the loans under Mudra due to the complicated procedures involved for the manufacturing sector, to which he replied that so far no one has approached the Ministry with complaints pertaining to it, in case they do get complaints, they will consider addressing them.

The Minister was attending the launch event of the MyMSME mobile application and MSME Facilitation Council Portal earlier today at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.
