MoFPI invites applications from stakeholders for setting up or upgradation of Testing Laboratories

New Delhi, July 26 (KNN) The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) has called for applications from organizations or institutions including private sector players for setting up or upgradation of Testing Laboratories under a Central Government Scheme.

MoFPI is implementing the scheme of setting up of  or upgradation of Food Testing Laboratories with the objective of having a network of Food Testing and Analytical Laboratories so as to support the Food Safety regulatory activities.

The initiative also aims to help the food processing industry in regard to quality control measures.

The Ministry has also come up with a revised guideline for the scheme and the same has been put up on the website.

Inviting applications from the organizations or institutions, including those in the private sector, MoFPI said preference would be given to those projects located in towns and cities lacking Food Testing Lab Infrastructure.

The Scheme for setting up / up-gradation of quality control / food testing laboratories benefits all stakeholders including domestic industry, exporters, entrepreneurs, small and medium enterprises, existing academic & research institutions, food standards setting bodies and Government. Food testing laboratories are the only way to ensure safety and quality of food products by Regulatory authorities, exporters, importers, processors, farmers, consumers etc. (KNN Bureau)
