Units will less than Rs 20 lakh turnover must be exempted under GST: CODISSIA
New Delhi, Sept 16 (KNN) The tiny and micro units that have turnover of less than Rs 20 lakh rmust be exempted from filing tax under the newly implemented Goods and Services Tax (GST), Coimbatore District Small Scale Industries Association (CODISSIA) asserted.
The demand was made during the recent redressal meeting organized between CODISSIA, MSMEs in the region and officials from the tax department.
The prime focus of the meeting was to facilitate clarification of the different compliance norms under the One Nation One Tax regime of the government.
In a press interview CODISSIA President, V Sundaram informed that tax officials from the GST Bhavan attended the meeting and interacted with the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of the region with reference to the complications they have been facing for filing the forms under GST.
Citing the prime concern of the sector, CODISSIA informed that before the implementation of GST, industrial units of 10 lakh or more revenue had to pay service tax and therefore were registered under the tax regime.
But under the GST, the limit has been raised to Rs 20lakh, to which CODISSIA demanded an amendment to smoothen the migration. (KNN/ DA)
