While Govt assures seamless flow of information, DGFT asks exporters to ensure transmission of Shipping Bill from Customs to DGFT

New Delhi, Feb 16 (KNN) In a reiteration, The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has asked exporters to promptly check Shipping Bill Transmission status on ICEGATE and DGFT websites, responding to which the exporters have raised the lack of a ‘hassle-free’ mechanism for the process.

Talking to KNN, Pankaj Bansal, Director of TMA International said that the mechanism In place for the exporters is not a very friendly one and even a slight error of which event the exporter have no information about, leads to delay in the process.

Explaining further, Bansal said that the major problem faced by exporters is with regard to the EGM. This is directly linked with three components including duty drawback, MEIS or other licence benefit and the GST refunds.

“If for any reason there happens to be any error, the entire process gets delayed for a long period resulting in blockage of credit”.

The onus of ensuring seamless export mechanism should not be on the exporter, rather the government and the concerned office should make sure that the smooth trade is facilitated, he added.

“It is not possible for the exporter to constantly check the website and keep a track of the shipping bull transmission status on ICEGATE as reiterated by the DGFT, not every exporter can do it regularly, he added.

Earlier, DGFT in a notification urged the exporters to check for Shipping Bill transmission status first on ICEGATE and then on DGFT website after 72 hours from integration of SB with ICEGATE. (KNN/DA)
