ESIC proposes mechanism to address reimbursements, industry in Mohali complain delay in implementation

New Delhi, Dec 15 (KNN) The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is working on the proposal to set up a ‘Society’ in each to look at reimbursement of medical bills, despite assurance and positive light, Mohali is yet to see implementation leaving MSMEs in a fix situation, Mohali Industries Association (MIA) informed.

Talking to KNN, Jasbir Singh, Chairman of MIA said that the news do come as a sound of relief but things are far more complicated.

He informed that the majority of the workers that work at the MSMEs in the region come from a very weak background, and every month these workers are being charged over 6.5 per cent of their wages as part of the insurance premium, but when it comes to the medical services they get in return, the situation is pathetic.

Singh informed that his association recently held a meeting with the ESIC top officials and raised the concerns at the PHD Chamber in the national capital.

“We gave ESIC a memorandum regarding our demands and also read the demands before the attending ESIC officials, but all we have even today is mere assurances and no action” Singh added.

Urging the corporation to address the concern at the earlier, MIA urged the corporation to look into the matter or set the workers free to avail insurance from other companies. (KNN/DA)
