GCCI suggests measures to improve EODB ranking of Gujarat

New Delhi, July 17 (KNN) Expressing concern over Gujarat's decline in ease of doing business ranking, Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has said that the state should ensure that the concept of a Single Window Clearance is realized to keep Gujarat from losing its status as the most sought after destination for business in the country.

Disappointed with the Gujarat’s performance in EODB ranking, newly appointed GCCI President Jamin Vasa said that newly formed states like Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have been marching ahead of traditional leaders like Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Conducting detained analysis of the business practices adopted by leading states, GCCI has made a series of suggestion to improve EODB ranking of Gujarat.

A memorandum submitted by GCCI, suggested, “Instead of about a dozen departments, there should be single department to grant all the approvals and a single nodal officer. Concerned departments should be linked to share all the information to reduce the time for clearance. All approvals should be given in a time-bound manner.”

Some of the suggestions include simplification of tendering process for the MSMEs; reforms in various areas undertaken by government should percolate to the industrial clusters so that state’s reform evidence score and feedback scores improves, rationalization of stamp duty and introduction of ‘anywhere’ registration.

To grab number one spot, Vasa said we should study the best practices of the states that are not leading the chart.
