Mohali, May 21 (KNN) With ESIC Hospital yet again failing to provide proper medical services and facilities to the insured workers, one Sita Ram Mandal, a worker with Mohali based MSME, is struggling to get affixed his artificial leg at the ESIC run hospital.

It’s been seven months since estimate for his artificial leg implantation has been sent to ESIC, but till date the approval is still pending, Jasbir Singh, Chairmail, LLC, Mohali Industries Association (MIA) told KNN.

Mandal had lost his right leg while working in a factory. The factory owners were getting his treatment done in a private hospital for six months.

For artificial leg implantation, the MSME owners had approached ESIC.

Highlighting the case of Mandal who is shuttering from pillar to post for affixing his artificial leg in ESIC offices, Jasbir Singh said that he met Regional Director of ESIC sector-19 A Chandigarh in his office to get his bill passed but he turned deaf ear to his request.

To make them hear, the legal notice was served to the Regional Director ESIC, Sunil Taneja on May 1, 2018 but till date no action has been taken by the authorities, told Jasbir Singh.

Despite repeated outrage and complains even to the higher authorities, Employee’s State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) run hospital in Mohali has not taken any measure to improve the working condition and infrastructure of the hospital.

The hospital still fails to provide basic amenities’ to the patients; the condition is so worst that they have converted the labor room into general ward for treating patients with no sanitation facilities in the hospital, the media reported on the same.

The hospital started the renovation process in October 2017, which was supposed to be done by December 2017 but 7 months have passed now and the renovation process is still incomplete.

In this regard, Mohali Industries Association (MIA)  had filed case in the High-Court, the next hearing for which is on 24 May, 2018. (KNN/YV)
