New Delhi, July 22 (KNN) The Kerala government is in the process of finalising the new industrial policy for the state with a dedicated framework for the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Industrial sector of the state is eying at the new policy with hope and enthusiasm.

Talking to KNN, A.Nizarudeen, State President of Kerala State Small Industries Association (KSSIA) explained the importance of introducing the much awaited dedicated policy for the MSME sector.

Nizarudeen said that while in other states of the country, to start a MSME unit it is quite easy, but in Kerala ease of doing business is yet to be introduced. The initial assessment of the draft of the upcoming policy suggests that the government is keen in facilitating ease of doing business.

He further informed that under the new policy, single window clearance for starting a unit will be introduced. Also it will be easier for the units to obtain licences.

“A time period of 30 days is prescribed for obtaining a licence under the upcoming policy, in case the authority fails to issue the licence, a deemed licence would be issued by the government so that the entrepreneur can start the unit” .

Also in case the licence is not issued, it will be the responsibility of the officer concerned to inform the reason as to why the application is not approved.

Also the dedicated MSME support scheme that provides the MSME sector with various incentives and subsidies is likely to be revised as per the suggestions of the different stakeholders.

Nizarudeen said that his association has proposed increasing the 30 lakh assistance amount to 50 lakh in the new policy.

The new industrial policy for the state is likely to be rolled out in next 2-3 months, he added. (KNN/ DA)
