Odisha MSME Minister presents state MSME report card

New Delhi, May 26 (KNN) The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Minister for the state of Odisha, Prafulla Samal, recently released the state MSME report card highlighting the performance of the sector in terms of investments and employment.

The Minister informed that over 1, 43,012 MSME units have been established in the state attracting investments of over Rs 8000 crores.

He further said that the successful growth in the sector has led to the generation of employment in the state of Odisha. Over 4.5 lakh jobs have been created by the MSME sector.

Listing the reasons behind a positive indicator in the MSME sector, the Minister said that district level single window clearance has enabled for faster clearance for the licensing and registration of the MSMEs.

Commenting upon the MSME policy, he said that Odisha has an updated Odisha MSME Development Policy, which was introduced last year. It lays special emphasis on dedicated schemes for the sector.

The capital investment subsidy for a new industry has been revised. From the earlier limit of 8 lakh, it has been boosted up to one crores for entrepreneurs from general category.

Also for entrepreneurs from SC/ST/Differently abled/Women categories and also the technical entrepreneurs, the limit has been revised from 8 lakh to 1 .25 crores.

Citing other reasons for the growth, the minister in the report card said that the Odisha Food Processing Policy has proved to be instrumental for the state. Also the MITS Mega food park at Rayagada and the Mega Sea food park at Deras under the PPP model have provided further impetus to the industry. (KNN/ DA)
