New Delhi, Nov 23 (KNN) As per the DIPP (Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion) guidelines, the Orissa Government would relax the years requirement for start-up status up to 10 years, L M Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha said on Wednesday while addressing the “Road to Global Entrepreneurship Program Summit” (GES) at KIIT University Campus. As per the state startup policy, firms up to 5 years of inception are given start-up status.

He said that Odisha has 24 startup incubators and 5 out of them have been registered with state government and KIIT TBI had already created more than 100 start-ups. The Chief Secretary added that the government is eager to provide support to entrepreneurs especially women in the state.

Rajen Padhi, Director General, Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Odisha told KNN that the government had been dedicatedly working to make the state startup friendly. He added that recently, 4 major incubators has been recognized and government has been considering providing monetary support of around 5 crore to IIT Bhubaneswar for incubation.

The director general said that the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had launched two online portals for startups to facilitate ease the ease of doing business in the state .He further said that to promote women entrepreneurship , the state government  had tied up with Facebook to provide financial and advisory support.

The Director General also said that the government had set up a target to reach 1000 startups and with mentoring  being done properly along with  new incubators future is looking bright. (KNN/AG)
