SICOP approves Business Reform Action Plan 2017 for J & K; industry says it was much needed

New Delhi, July 27 (KNN) In a bid to boost the industries comprising of 70 per cent Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state, the Jammu and Kashmir Small Scale Industries Development Corporation (SICOP) approved the Business Reform Action Plan 2017; the industry of the region sees it as a much needed step.

Talking to KNN, Suresh Mahajan, Sr. Vice President of Bari Brahamana Industries Association (BBIA) informed that under the reform action plan, the facility for applying for the incensing would be made online. Also a single window clearance system would be set up to help the MSME entrepreneurs easily set up his unit.

The industry at present face delay in obtaining water connection, with the new action plan in place, the process is likely to be smoothened.  Suresh further said that the land allotment system will also be made online allowing entrepreneurs to apply for land and also pay the dues via digital portal.

Emphasizing the safety for the industry, the action plan makes it mandatory to get the fire safety approvals with annual renewal of the fire fighting systems installed in all the industrial estates.

“With a dynamic plan in place, it addresses some of the very important concerns of the MSMEs in Jammu and Kashmir, now that it is approved, the industry is waiting eagerly for the implementation”, he added.

SICOP recently in its 86th board meeting gave a nod to the Business Reform Action Plan 2017. The Corporation also informed that it has been able to achieve a business turnover of 386.22 crores in the first quarter of the current fiscal. (KNN/ DA)
