Indore, June 15 (KNN) The Ahilya Chamber, an umbrella body of all the important and prominent trade associations of Indore, has asked for some fundamental changes to ensure smooth operations under GST regime.

The chamber has suggested that a provision should be made to enable those suppliers who are willing to opt this to prepare their invoices directly on the GST Portal.

These invoices should carry some identification showing that these are generated on GST Portal directly.

Transporter should compulsorily carry hard copy of this invoice with the truck.

After this, the E-Way bill will become redundant for such suppliers and it will save both suppliers and GST Portal from duplicate work.

Portal should be programmed to generate return automatically with this data and suppliers should be informed of his/her tax liability by an appointed date (say 15th) of succeeding  month. Supplier should be required to deposit tax within 4/5 days of such intimation.

The chamber suggested that the process should be totally optional and should not be made mandatory in any case.

Those who wish to continue with the existing system should be allowed to do so, the chamber suggested.

Despite HSN Codes, there is enormous confusion about applicable GST rate as similar goods have been classified  under  different tax categories. These need to be looked into on war footing and steps should be taken  to classify similar goods under one tax rate category.

On Advance Rulings, the Chamber suggested that there  needs to be a Central authority for advance rulings as different states are giving different ruling adding to the confusion.

Also, the Rulings should be binding on all states and suppliers and not case specific. (KNN Bureau)
