ESIC Mohali is still the same over last many years– pathetic, dysfunctional: Mohali Industrialists

New Delhi, May 16 (KNN) The MSME entrepreneurs from Mohali have expressed anger and disappointment with the “sorry state of ESIC Mohali” as lack of facilities and poor infrastructure is forcing their employees to move to other hospitals for treatment costing them heavily on their pockets.

The industrialists from the region have time and again raised concern with the government both central and state, Senior ESIC officials, Labour Ministry and many more that despite paying ESIC funds from their salaries every month, poor insured workers of Mohali and Chandigarh have failed to get right treatment during the need.

“With lack of facilities and infrastructure poor patients are suffering and are forced to move to other hospitals for treatment,” Jasbir Singh, Chairman, LLC, Mohali Industries Association, told KNN.

Highlighting a recent case, Singh said “A worker from member industry felt breathless while working in the factory and was taken to the ESIC hospital for medical treatment. But due to non-availability of light in the hospital he received no treatment and was rushed to another hospital.”

Singh said this is not the only case and number of such incidents have occurred in the past and have not been taken seriously by the officers of ESIC Chandigarh.

MIA has been raising the hefty contribution of 6.5% that the poor workers’ pay from their earned wages every month from which ESIC pays their staffs and officers.

Jasbir Singh pointed that even the Ambulance there has been lying dysfunctional for the past 10 years with no driver.

Ineffective, Inefficient and Dysfunctional health care system of ESIC Hospital Mohali has made the situation worse and pathetic for the insured workers as they do not receive the treatment for which they are entitled and have been paying for this from their pocket for long, said an MSME entrepreneur from the region.
