Goa's new IT policy 2018 launched

New Delhi, July 16 (KNN) In a bid to create an ecosystem based on innovation and technology, Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad unveiled the Goa It Policy 2018 on the final day of Goa IT Day celebrations.

Replacing the Goa IT policy which was released in 2015, the new IT Policy aims to attract at least 5 large multinational IT companies and help create 8,000 to 10,000 jobs for locals.

The Goa IT policy 2018 focuses on infrastructure development, fiscal incentives, governance and human resource development.

The policy offers special incentives for solar power-based units, internet subsidy and assistance for campus recruitment.

Further, Policy promises time-bound approvals of investments and incentives, within a 90-day period.

Also, there is a special provision for capital investment subsidy for Goan diaspora.

Besides, MoUs between the Goa government and IT companies were also signed on the second day of Goa IT Day celebrations today.

The revised policy aims to remove bureaucratic hurdles by ushering in government reforms.

Speaking at the occasion Prasad called the Goa IT policy extraordinary and well thought-of.

Stressing on digital skilling and assuring central support, Prasad announced that Goa will soon have a National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology centre.

Talking about Digital India, he said the program is designed to empower all Indians and break the digital divide through developmental, low-cost and transformative technology.

The Goa IT Policy 2018 also promised time-bound approvals of investments and incentives, within a 90-day period.

Prasad also inaugurated the Goa centre of Software Technology Parks of India at the event.
